McEwan Law is a law firm based out of the Kootenay Boundary region. Since our establishment in 1979, we have undergone significant growth and change.

Lew Bridgeman graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Victoria and received his Bachelor of Law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1974.
Lew spent the first few years of his practice in the North, practicing in both Prince George and Dawson Creek. Since 1978, he has practiced in the Castlegar and Trail area.
For many years, Lew practiced in the Corporate, Commercial, and Wills and Estates areas. He now practices primarily in the Estate Planning, Wills, Estates, and Trusts areas.

Born in Trail and called to the British Columbia Bar in 1977, Peter Somerville obtained an LLB in 1976 and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1975 from UBC. Peter has practiced in Vancouver, Cranbrook, Victoria, Grand Forks, and Trail, B.C. Peter’s practice is restricted primarily to Family Mediation and Residential and Commercial Real Estate Matters. Ken Wyllie, born in Nelson and raised in Robson, received his degrees in Law and Commerce from the Universtiy of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand, in 1975. He returned to the West Kootenay in 1979, practising as Wyllie & Okros until David Okros retired in 2001. Since that time, he has practised exclusively as a criminal defence barrister as Wyllie & Co., merging with McEwan Law in June, 2011.
Ken is a past president of the Kootenay Bar Association, a former county representative for the Canadian Bar Association (B.C. Branch), and is a member of the Trial Lawyers Association of B.C. He has served as a director of the RDCK for 6 years and is a past member of the Economic Advisory Committee to the Columbia Basin Trust. He continues to serve as a trustee on the local water improvement district and the Robson Memorial Church Society.

Jesse Gelber joined our firm on January 1, 2007. He practices in the areas of civil litigation, insurance law, debtor/creditor matters, criminal defence and family law. He is fluent in Italian.
